Chianti, famous not only for its landscape but also for the fruit which its land offers. The exquisite wine that is produced here, known as far back as the Etruscan times, has given the region prestige and worldwide fame.
The Chianti area is included in the communes of Castellina, Radda and Gaiole. The hills are absolutely enchanting covered in vineyards and oak, chestnut and holm-oak tree groves. The countryside, dotted with farmhouses, is now an exclusive tourist destination. The beautiful hamlets of the Chianti are often characterised by fortified medieval castles, evidence of the ancient wars between Siena and Florence, while the Romanesque churches emerge from the past amidst the gently rolling landscape.
